Helen MacDonald is an award-winning historian and the author of Possessing the Dead: The Artful Science of Anatomy and Human Remains.

She is a Senior Fellow at The Australian Centre in the School of Historical and Philosophical Studies at the University of Melbourne, Australia and a member of the Advisory Board of the Writing Centre for Scholars and Researchers.

Helen is also published in academic journals, magazines and broadsheets, has acted as a consultant for documentary films and provides expert commentary to the media.

She has judged the Victorian Premier’s Literary Awards, both the Nettie Palmer prize (Non-fiction, $30,000) and the prize for a First Book of History ($15,000).
